PESHAWAR: An active Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist Ashrafullah alias Toofani was killed in an operation by the security forces in North Waziristan tribal district on Saturday.
Search operation was conducted in Boya area of North Waziristan after reports were received about presence of terrorists.
During intense exchange of fire, terrorist Ashrafullah alias Toofani, resident of Boya, was killed. The ISPR said the killed terrorist remained involved in target killing, terrorist activities against security forces, extortion and planting improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The security forces also conduct IBOs after receiving credible information about presence of militants to ward off any threat of attacks. A terrorist named Ashrafullah alias Toofani, also a member of TTP, was killed in a similar operation yesterday.
On March 6, security forces conducted two intelligence-based operations (IBOs), killing at least eight terrorists including three commanders of TTP in North Waziristan.
“These terrorists remained involved in terrorist activities against security forces, law enforcement agencies and locals of the area since 2009 including IED attacks, firing, target killing, kidnapping for ransom and extortion,” the military’s media wing said. On February 4, security forces killed four terrorists during a similar operation in North Waziristan.
“The operation was conducted after the security forces observed the presence of the terrorists in a compound in North Waziristan’s Mir Ali area.”
The ISPR said that 42-year-old resident of Chitral Naib Subedar Aminullah and a 24-year-old resident of Landi Kotal Sepoy Sher Zamin were martyred while four other soldiers sustained injuries during the operation.
