PESHAWAR: The third wave has hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hard specially the medical staff as two more doctors and a nurse lost their lives on Tuesday, taking the death toll of doctors from the infection in the province to 61.
According to the Provincial Doctors Association (PDA), the two doctors who died of corona included Dr Khair Muhammad Burki and Dr Abdul Kabir, while the deceased nurse was identified as Nazia.
Dr Khair Muhammad Burki had served as district health officer (DHO) Tank district. He had also served as deputy medical superintendent of the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Peshawar. He was admitted to a private hospital in Peshawar and was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) few days ago.
Dr Abdul Kabir was serving as First General Surgeon in Swat. He was admitted to a hospital in Islamabad after contracting coronavirus few days ago. He was also put on ventilator, but he could not survive.
The deceased nurse, Nazia, was a nursing officer at Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) Peshawar.
Overall in KP, the viral infection killed 33 people on Tuesday, taking the death toll in the province to 2,953. As many as 1,153 more coronavirus infections were detected, bringing the total positive cases to 108,462.
