Five Lakki Marwat police personel held for corruption

LAKKI MARWAT: Five police officials, including the station house officer of Serai Gambila police station, were arrested on charges of corruption and malpractices here on Tuesday.

An official source said the policemen were arrested after a case was registered against them under different sections of PPC. He said a local court remanded them into police custody for one day.

He said on the night of Sept 26, a party headed by Serai Gambila SHO Irfan Khan had intercepted a truck near Gambila Adda, and recovered 120kg hashish from the vehicle.

He said the police officials allegedly received Rs1.6 million from the truck driver, Ayub Khan of Kurram and registered a case against him, showing that only three kilogrammes hashish was seized from him.

The official said DPO Abdul Rauf Baber ordered registration of case against the SHO and four constables when he learnt about the matter.
