Tribes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
N.W.F.P now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a province of Pakistan, gifted by the nature with a lot of areas that are full of natural beauty and have different types of people, their different traditions and cultural values. Simply we can divide this province in different tribes that separates the province in different areas.
The people of these tribes are living their lives basing on some strong principles. Their traditions and values at some point are the same and different too.
With the population of more then Thirty Million this province has many tribes, Pushtuns and non pushtuns. The single largest tribe is known as The Pashtuns or Pathans. The Pashtun tribes can be divided into many sub categories and these are Bhitani, Daavi, Yusafzai, Khattak, Marwat, Afridi, Tenoli, Orakzi, Bangash, Mahsud, Mohmand, Wazir, etc. These tribes are living in the rural areas of the province. The Awan tribes, Syed, Kashmari, Rajpoot, Abbasi, etc are known as non pushtun tribes. Commonly spoken languages are Pasho and Hindko.
Discovering the north side of the province in the Chitral and Kohistan regions, it is the residence of different tribes that are known as Khowar, Shina tribe, Torwali tribe, Kohistani and Kalami tribes.
The southern side of this beautiful province is hosting some Balochi tribes known as Laghari, Rind, Buzdar, Khurana, and Lashari tribes. The language of this region is Saraiki.
The Religious aspects
A major population of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa belongs to Islam. The dominant community is Sunni, while Shias and Ismalies are the other communities.
The Life Style of Tribes
There is not much change in the lifestyle of the tribes and it is still the same as the old era before the British Raj. A tribal life circled around respect, vengeance and generosity. The tribal people are famous for their kindness for the visitors comes from all around the country. Tribal life is a mixture of happiness, anger, revenge, and dignity of men. The tribal Jirga plays the main role while resolving the disputed issues between different people and tribes. There is no doubt to say that they would like to act according to their traditions and values vice versa.
